Here’s a little history on the Basenji Dog Breed. Do you think they’d make good pets for a family?
The basenji may be a timid dog that loves his family but is suspicious of outsiders. They used to hunt in groups and, if socialized as puppies, are usually good with other dogs. Some basenjis, on the other hand, can be abrasive with other basenjis.
Basenjis are intelligent canines who might be difficult to train. To bring forth their finest features, they require imaginative and thoughtful handling. The yodeling creates quite a racket, despite the fact that they don’t bark. They may be chewers and diggers if left to their own ways.
Basenji breeders and owners describe them as “catlike” because they groom themselves by licking and are silent. They also appear to like scaling great heights, maybe to observe their area.
Basenjis are boisterous dogs who require and enjoy frequent romps or runs. Agility and lure courses are two of their favorite pastimes. Basenjis are no longer often employed for hunting, but they make excellent family pets and can live up to 13 years.
