American Staffordshire Terrier:

The American Staffordshire Terrier was bred apart from the American Pit Bull Terriers in the 1960s.
They were most likely created by crossing the old terrier type dogs with the Bulldogs.
Amstaff became popular with ranchers and farmers for protection, companionship, and catching hogs and cattle.
Despite its media reputation for ferociousness, the Staffy is an affectionate dog which has risen to popularity as a pet.
Their natural aggression is directed toward other dogs, not humans, and even this can be overcome with training.
When it was registered with the American Kennel Club in 1936, it was called the Staffordshire terrier.
The name of this breed didn’t change to American Staffordshire terrier until 1972, which is commonly shortened to Amstaff.

  1. Untrue about being friendly to other pets. If you socialize them as puppies they can grow to be friends with all dogs and even cats.
