  1. Bad owners and early misuse has labeled them undeservedly. Because of that, they overpopulate shelters, sadly.

  2. Ok I don't know if I have an AmStaff or a AmPit but he is the sweetest dog when it comes to people. And he loves my other dog too but they have some fights now and then and it sucks (not the dog in my picture..that dog died recently but he was sweet to him always). My other dog is Border Collie/St Bernard mix. And I can say if you want an indoor dog and have no other dogs..this dog is the best in the house once they are no longer a puppy. But my point is as far as people..sweetest dog ever. Now some of this breed get weird around people and I blame the owner because with the way my dog is..I don't see how they wouldn't all be sweet like mine if raised in a loving home. But you do have to be careful with other dogs with this breed. I consider this breed and American pit the same btw.

  3. I grew up with them. Super smart, absolutely loyal, and loving to owners. They have skin issues like rashes and sores that they over-scratch. Hip dysplasia is a problem for some, so constant jumping is discouraged. This is still my favorite breed and yes they get a bad rap.

  4. I've had my am staff for a month and everything you said is spot on so far. Shes almost 4 months and her name is Akira 🙂

  5. The good thing about people being scared of amstaffs is that me (a female) can walk him without the fear of being attacked by someone

  6. Nice video! Thanks for using the imperial measurements we use here in America in describing your measurements. So many European video makers use the metric system when discussing the height, weight etc., and that means nothing to the 320 million Americans. As an AmStaff owner I agree with all your comments. The AmStaff is a phenomenal breed unfairly maligned by an ignorant public that confuses it with a Pit bull and attaches that stigma, also not deserved by the pit bull. This dog's characteristics as you point out in your video are the exact opposite of it's reputation by an ignorant general public. AmStaff's are great with people, kids, not at all overly aggressive, kind, tolerant and loving…..overall a great family dog!

  7. Spot on sir. I have an am staff mix rescue.75% thru DNA test. And he is itchy (apoquel), loves humans (very much!), not so much other dogs and very very loyal. Quite a swimmer also! Thanks!

  8. Thank you for this video. We adopted an AmStaff mix 2 months ago but I wouldn't have taken him if I'd known he was part pitty. He is wonderful and at 5 months old I am seeing his intelligence. Very sweet. He and the cats are getting along well. I really appreciate your knowledge to feel more comfortable with this fun guy.

  9. My brother has a staff for 4 months now, she's very lovely and cuddling with the family, but lately she's been aggressive when people approach us to talk, wonder if it's because she's turning one year old

  10. I have an amstaff mix named Gigi. Other parts of her are Labrador and Chesapeake Bay Retriever. She is an a canine athlete and diva. Gigi is her original name at adoption. We added a middle name of “Lolita”

  11. Today I lost my amstaff after 14 years together and my heart is just broken beyond repair….. she was everything to me and I don't know if I can ever get another dog.

  12. I've owned many dogs and multiple breeds, I have never liked anything related to the pitbull breed let alone own one. I was in between dogs with my last being a beagle. I had stopped at a person's house I haven't seen in years and they had 5 dogs all varieties of pits. They had a emaciated Amstaff they kept in a tiny bedroom 24 hours a day which was previously abused before they got him. They only let the dog out to use the bathroom and was kept in the tiny bedroom the rest of the time being fed in there and with no interaction. I broke down after feeling horrible for the dog and told them I'm taking the dog and they did not have a choice in the matter which luckily they agreed. People that know me said I was a fool and had the same feelings I had with the pit breed. The dog was around 6 years old when I brought him home and after 5 months of having him I am here to say that I have never been so wrong when it comes to a dog breed. Even now I hate to admit that this is by far thee best dog I have ever owned in my life and is mind boggling to me that I am saying this after owning this animal for months instead of years. I had acclimated him to people, other animals, and children all within a few months since I live on a very active lake and he is slowly starting to win everyone over around here. I put him on a diet and exercise that now he looks as if he could win Mr. Universe and never in a million years did I ever of thought I could have taken a adult abused pitbull breed (this one being a American Staffordshire Terrier) and it turning out to be thee damn best dog I have ever owned!!!

  13. My boy is 2 years old from what I was told he’s Amstaff/Goti/ Razors Edge like 75 percent black and 25 white. About 16 inches in height and weighs about 65lbs. Really good around people but just ok around other dogs . Got into an incident at the dog park a few months ago that scared the heck out of me. Really loyal, silly, stubborn lol, smart, and just seems down for whatever. Down for a nice run but also doesn’t mind laying around the house chilling. I had a Rottweiler in the past and this breed seems a lot easier to train and really good around strangers.

  14. They are such a beautiful breed of dog. My Girl Ruby loves cuddles she is so gentle. As i am writing this she is having a nap.

  15. Great dog I have 2 of them from same breeder one male one female great dogs if you want to know more reply to me I know a great breeder

  16. I have one.One of the smartest dog i have ever had. follows me around in the yard.but won't leave the yard a horse can walk down my street and he just looks at them . very loyal dogs.

  17. I've had one for 6 years, until he died of stomach cancer. I have no bad words to say about this breed. None. The best dog ever! Unfortunately, a lot of times, they appeal to irresponsible owners who can't give such a dog what it needs. Mostly it's teaching them a bit of self-control in general, that's all they need, ultimately, together with enough time to play and cuddle.
