Grooming
Basenjis are a short-haired, flat-coated breed that sheds all year, including during the winter. Cleaning ears, clipping nails, checking anal glands, and ensuring the coat and skin are in good condition are all recommended grooming intervals of 4 – 8 weeks.
Basenji Coat Grooming
Basenjis are one of the few breeds that do not shed much, but they do shed heavily in the spring and fall. Frequent brushing with a hound glove, grooming mitt, or glove is all that is required to keep your home free of dog hair and to keep your hound looking good. You may want to groom your dog outside during the heavier shedding periods.
Caring for your Basenjis coat
