Great advice about giving a homeless kitty a place to call home first. I've never regretted doing so. Gingers would be my recommendation for a first time cat owner as most gingers are incredibly sweet and are natural born cat politicians, they charm all other cats that they meet.
I have adopted 2 mix Bengal kittens from a ngo, now I have total 6 This little angels r awesome to live with Initially I faced issues but we grow up together.

Bengals shouldn't be on this list. I have a Bengal she loves cuddles and pats and is great with children.
