Our day at Pfeiffer Beach just so happened to coincide with a twice yearly global phenomenon known as King Tides. Apparently these occur when the earth, moon and sun are aligned, combined with the moon being at its closest orbit to earth, therefore causing the highest tides of the year. Pfeiffer Beach is kind of divided into two stretches of sand by a large rock formation and the water came up so high on both sides that the tides actually overlapped. I wish I took a better photo of this, but was also dealing with a dog with water anxiety. (I suppose rapidly rushing high tides aren’t exactly the ideal scenario to train a Shiba to like the water.) #shibainu #pfeifferbeach #kingtides #bigsur #mytinyatlas ☀️🌕🌎
