The smooth fox terrier breed stands over a lot of ground but with a short back. It is a combination of speed, strength, and power, allowing it to run and stick around the hounds and horses throughout the hunt and to keep an eye on a fox in a narrow track.
Smooths are very much like their cousins, Wire Fox Terriers. They stand close to 15.5 inches at the shoulder. The unique physical attribute, other than their coat, is their head: A Smooth’s head is more V-shaped than that of a Wire’s. The thick, level coat is purely white, with dark and tan markings.
Suiting their solid chasing nature, the Smooth-coated Fox Terrier has a sharp sense of smell, great vision and surprising resilience to complete their tasks. The smooth terrier can be trained effortlessly, however, he needs a solid hand to control his longing to chase. This breed is most joyful when active.
As a friend, the Smooth Fox Terrier is tender and defensive. He makes a decent watchdog yet with a little bit of an inclination to be vocal.

It's interesting to learn that my dog, Dexter, is quite big for his breed. He weighs about 23 lbs last I took him to the vet. He also stays in the yard, which is not fenced in. He knows his boundaries and seldom leaves the yard. Most other things, I found to have already learned through experience.

I have a smooth Fox pit she is a really good dog she listens to me well just nervous for when she gets older because she don’t listen to my 18yr old daughter I think it’s just because she is only 4 months old just would like to break her out of the habit and have her listen to her. She absolutely loves my daughter probably more than me but she is disobedient to her. She isn’t as energetic as this video says tho we play fetch for about 15 minutes and she is sleeping five minutes later all in all she is a very good and smart dog we had her housebroken in a week at 8 weeks old

Thank you so much for this video! I drive semi, my first night with her in the semi I thought I heard someone knock on the side of my truck and as a puppy she jumped up Hunter is up and started barking come to find out it was just a truck passing next to me on an on-ramp with a clunky trailer. As a puppy I expected her to mess in the semi because she is a puppy but she hold it in and patiently waited for me to wake up and take her out so she could use the bathroom which instantly after she hit the grass she did. She seems to be an extremely smart dog and I absolutely love her all she wants to do is cuddle and play. I have a Florida Black Mouth Cur pitbull mix and a Mastiff Pitbull lab mix and she chases them around the yard like a monster and they absolutely love her.
I also have twin two-and-a-half-year-old boys we have to chase her around and she absolutely loves it and they absolutely love her as well. I kind of bought her on an Impulse buy so I can have a dog for my truck and I didn't realize just how good of a companion these dogs are
These facts are not all true about a smooth Fox Terrier. They don’t pick fights with other dogs they have beautiful temperaments.

I had a SFT and it was my favorite dog of all time. If you don't honestly have an hour a day to spend with one, don't get one. She required vigorous daily exercise sessions of about 45 minutes to be content (e.g., fetch, frisbee, running, etc.). Otherwise, she'd start to lose it a little. She responded well to positive reinforcement and loved learning new tricks She had a great sense of humor. She could be beautifully irreverent and was likely to do the unexpected, which is why SFT's should always remain leashed unless in a safe, enclosed area. She was great as a hiking companion who would happily hike all day without complaint. She competed well in frisbee dog competitions. She was also a great dog to watch a movie or TV with. She would lay sleeping next to me as I watched (always in contact) and would make the most interesting groans of contentment to let you know that all was good in the world for her. I sure miss her.
