i had a red heeler. always wanted to have a blue heeler after having my red heeler. years after losing my red heeler i had the opportunity to get my blue heeler

My wife and I rescued two mutt puppies in our neighborhood. I have been there from day one never abused them but they are completely connected only to my wife. They bark at me when I come home and growl even after four years. I have never had a dog of my own. I cry babied to my wife. She is the kind of person you have to be careful what you ask for because she makes it happen. I did my usual w2atch every vid on you tube looking at dogs. I wanted a blue heeler. Like you the only reasonably priced ones were 2 hours away south of Louisville, Ky. She negotiated and paid $200. While I was working she drove there and back. When I came home there were two baby blue heelers. My wife put an ad on a pets for sale page offering one of the puppies for $250.. someone bought her in 2 hours after my wife thoroughly ckd them out. That's how I got the best blue heeler for free.

If you live in Oklahoma you have definitely been around blue and red heelers.
I grew up around catahoulas and cattle dogs. The barn I rode at for 15 years had cattle dogs only for farm dogs. They were so smart and quick, i was always amazed at how they were able to avoid getting kicked by the horses.
When I was 8, we rescued a cattle dog mix from a neglect situation, and he has always been insightful and attached. I guess it just sort of happened that I liked their temperament.
I adopted a 2 year old red cattle dog mix (possibly with whippet, but colors and ears like a cattle dog), and I have never loved a dog so much in my entire life. She’s a service dog now, in intensive training and doing exceptional. She is my Velcro, always stuck to my side.
She is so in tune with me, she knows exactly what I am going to do before I do it. She’s constantly checking on me, looking for eye contact, and pressing herself against me.
She’s so playful and smart, and great with all dogs and people. When it’s hard to find a reason to smile about, she makes me. I can’t wait to get home in my day on days I don’t bring her with me and see her beautiful face and intense eyes.

I got my Red Heeler from my nephew who purchased him and after a year he nipped at his little girl and mom wanted him gone. They had already named him "Red" and he is a beautiful dog with the half mask. I haven't had a dog in over 20 years and I am so glad I got him. He keeps me active and moving which has been a blessing for me. He is already pretty good at listening but I am starting a training class with him mainly so I can learn how to work with him a little better since he tends to have a short attention span. He is such a big kid and loves to crawl up on my lap when I'm watching TV, can't imagine having any other breed. I love your videos Liz, keep them coming 🙂

I just recently adopted a blue heeler/terrier mix. Although she's a mix, her personality is all blue heeler! I've been wanting a dog for a very long time but I wasn't able to. While me and my boyfriend were considering getting one, we weren't sure it was the right time. Well, my cousin called me up one night saying the her sister was ready to bring the dog to a shelter because she was too much to handle. They were keeping her in a cage 8+ hours a day. With in three days we were bringing her home. Lucy, our doggo, is a year old and honestly the best thing that has ever happened to me. I just love her so much and she has definitely helped me in so many ways. She is very hyper and needs a lot of training but I am more then willing to put in the time because she is the best and I want the best for her.
Btw. Your videos are awesome and have helped me a lot. I saw your video on how you walk Lou and I've started doing the same now! Today was our first day doing it and Lucy did great! Thank you!
We had almost identical experience… me and my boyfriend went to this ladies house with intentions on another puppy and then the one I chose was the only one who wouldn’t leave me and followed me out the door. I didn’t wanna put him down ever lol
Love history! here in Brazil there are many abandoned Acd! unfortunately! there are many "backyard funders". Last year I rescued 5 of the streets.
Runts are the best imo my dog was the runt of the litter and he's the only one still alive out of 14 and he's just over a year old
I have probably already commented but it is a rainy ugh ly winter day. My wife got me my blue heeler Amelia for my birthday. For some reason there are no ACDs in Indianapolis, IN. She had to drive south of Louisville, Ky three hours away to pick her up. The lady had offered them for $250 each but it had been difficult for her to sell. My wife being a farm girl dickered her down to $200 for two girls. My wife brought them home. They were adorably sweet beyond oh my gosh. My wife put an add on a pets for sale site…two hours later someone who my mechanical engineer wife researched deeply paid $250 for Amelia's sister. Who we visit and lives on a really nice horse training farm outside town. That's how we got Amelia for free…

They best dog ever!!! I mean I've had a hand full of dogs in my life that are special but people Blues are unique. Ellie is just about 9 months old and so smart already. And the energy is wonderful.

I got my first cattle dog when I was 3 and I fell in love with the breed. She was given to us as a 1 year old. Then two years later she had a litter of 7 puppies and she would keep taking the runt downstairs to burry it. We kept the first born (Dottie) and then two years later Dottie had a litter of 5 puppies with her brother. *Skip forward 1 year *we now have two Australian Smithfield stumpy tail cattle dogs Dottie and dozzer
I love My blue heeler Bear, his my exercise partner ,best friend, a loyal protector of my family, his very smart and loves to run an chase the ball or balloons, his always beside me . Always happy .. I suffer from depression and anxiety, an he somehow knows exactly how to change my train of thought at a bad time. I love My blue heeler they are outstanding as a family member. An so damn cute as a puppy. He lives for me!! I live for him..

Doesn't even look for affection at all , she also kills anything in the yard , and got 2 chickens , if breaks my heart that after owning 6 German Shepherds through the years and never a problem. Luna has to live in the garage now, she attacked me in my sleep
I rescued my Kali from a family who loved her a lot, unfortunetly their daughter who adopted her left her with her mom who was older and doesn't couldn't take care of her. So I got a text message from my friend who knew I loved dogs and offered for me to take her and mentioned it is an amazing very smart puppy. I actually watched you video since I knew nothing about the these dogs, and told her I will come and look at the puppy but no guarantee since I already had 3 other dogs in my family. I almost got my cattle dog the same way. The one puppy out of 8 just melted on my chest. I just walked into this farm store just to buy hay. Next thing you know we came home with a puppy. It is some work raising him and My wife and I are not as young as we use to be, but we too have a farm and so far he's doing great. Harley is almost 3 months old. I watch all your videos and I enjoy each one. Keep up the good work.

I love my Heelers. They are very challenging as puppies, but the first birthday brings noticeable changes. It is like some additional software gets installed and they spend their life paying you back for all the immature puppy havoc they created.
They are determined, devoted intelligent dogs who have a work ethic that we would pay extra if they were employees. I love all dogs, but

my heeler was at the shelter – i wasn't really looking for another dog but when i saw his little face it was love at first sight. he's only a year old and he had been adopted and brought back to the shelter twice. the second person to adopt him only kept him for ONE NIGHT. he's a great dog and has taken to training very well AND brought me more joy than i even knew was possible. i feel so lucky that i found him!
I got my blue heeler rigs about 2 months ago. Right from the moment I held him I knew he was the one. He has been my best friend. He makes me and my other dog hole. We go everywhere together the4 of us

Found my heeler mix at outdoor flea market in very small town few hrs from my place. Was laying in mud covered in flies with rabbits and free kittens and she looked up and looked rite threw me. I thought how sad and walked away looking at junk at flea market. Couldn't get my mind off of her. She's all white with black patch over her eye and few blue spots. The mom was red and dad was blue heeler people said? Being 5 weeks separated from my wife of 11 yrs this lil pup has been so much joy . So smart its almost freaky. Week tomorrow of having her and really settling in and her personality is just awesome!! I'm used to hard breeds from husky's, rotties over the yrs I look forward to the challenges and the love from my new 9 week puppy!! Great channel and researching all I can about the breed.

I just came across you account and I’m so beyond thankful for the dedication of all these videos!! I’m trying to educate myself on the breed as much as possible so I can give the best possible life to my soon to be puppy. I pick him up this Thursday, before I found him I knew absolutely nothing about this breed! And once I started googling about ACD I got a little nervous but your videos have helped so much and I will be continuing to watch your videos to help me raise my little guy 💜 I am also traveling far to get him, about 5-6 hours away. I was also raised with Siberian Huskys all my childhood and teenage years and I thought I was going to stick to that kind of dog but when I saw Oakleys pictures (That’s what me and my boyfriend picked out for his name!) I just fell absolutely inlove. Again thank you for these videos and please keep doing them , it so helpful. There’s nothing else like this channel out there so I appreciate it, Thank you!
I am on a waiting list. The breeder said she likes to match the dog's personality with the owner. You can state what sex you want, color preference, and that is it. Don't know if that is possible but she seems to be honest, cares about the breed, and does DNA work ups and posts results on line. This way you know genetically your puppy is healthy or a carrier. She even takes them to a neurologist who gives the puppies hearing tests via being hooked up on a machine with wires…like you would a baby. I want a healthy female so hopefully in a year, a litter will have females to choose from. This litter was all males.
If you get the runt it will be the healthiest if it survives
I actually just got a blue heeler puppy and i live in delaware but i have a feeling i got it from the same lady you got Lou from.
We got our Cattle Dog as a one year old rescue. We live in PA and our local rescue group (I have 2 of their dogs already) travelled to LA to pick up a number of dogs from a kill shelter. I met him and we have been attached at the hip since hour one together. HIs name is Cisco and he is the best!
What a cute story :^) I just got a blue heeler puppy and we had that instant connection as well!! I drove there to get his sister but he wouldn’t leave me alone 😊 then his sister who I originally wanted fell in love with my sister so they both ended up coming home with us lmao. It’s funny how they seem to know who they want to go home with 😊
Update. I sat on the floor with all the 6 females. One was nipping me the whole time. Didn't hurt because she was small. It was confusing as they all were cute. The breeder picked out Bella and told me she would be perfect for me. Now I wonder if that was the great white shark that was constantly biting me when I was on the floor. The dog I adopted is a bad biter … will share another time.
The pregnant mother was rescued MOMENTS FROM BEING SHOT! A doctor friend told the story on Facebook and I said I will take a female! OMG!!!! I FORGOT HOW SMART AND MANIPULATIVE THEY ARE!!! SHE IS ALMOST 5 MONTHS OLD!! I named her TEX! I HAVE LEARNED SOME WONDERFUL TRICKS! 🤣 I am almost 60!!!! I AM VERY ACTIVE!!!! I have also had 3 deaths and they were EXTREMELY TRAGIC AND UNEXPECED!!!! I don't know how I made it all this time WITHOUT MY PRECIOUS LITTLE ANGEL " TEX "!!!! ❤
