The Basenji breed is the only dog breed that doesn’t bark, but they can still make other vocalizations like howls and growls. They were originally bred in Africa as hunting dogs and are now popular as companion animals due to their intelligence, independence, and playful personality. Basenjis behave like cats in their grooming and aloofness towards strangers. However, they’re excellent watchdogs and loyal and affectionate towards their families.
