In this episode, expert trainer Gwen Bailey gets to work practising recall with Queenie.

Recall’s really important – if you know your dog will come back, then it’s much easier to let them off the lead. Gwen shows us how you can persuade your dog to come back, and Queenie shows us her new skills.

Queenie’s a one year old Staffordshire bull terrier, and she’s currently living at the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

Please note: Although these videos are only a few minutes long, the filming for each took several hours. Training a dog is not quick to do and requires a lot of patience, practice and experimentation to achieve the best results.

If you’re really struggling then we would recommend you seek the help of a professional dog trainer for more intensive one on one help and advice. You can find an Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors member near you here: http://www.apbc.org.uk/help/regions
