BOXER DOGS:
Muscular, deep chested, energetic, silly but loyal and, friendly describes the Boxer dog!

Boxer dogs are in the top 10 most popular family dog breeds to own!

The Boxer dogs were imported to the USA after World War 1 and it wasn’t until the 1940s that they became one of the most popular family dog breeds!

Boxers originated in Germany in the 19th centrury where they are descendants of the extinct bullenbaiser breeds crossed with mastiffs, bulldogs and possibly great danes and even some terriers. They were originally used as bull bating dogs, however their will to fight wasn’t enough for the ring and they later became known as butchers helpers and controlled slaughterhouse cattle in Germany.

Boxers are a HIGH ENERGY DOG!

The Boxer dogs are a large breed in the “Working dog breed group” and weight 50 to 80 lbs. They were first used as police dogs in America and later became more popular to use as family guard dogs since they are intimidating but have a reputation of being friendly and good with kids unlike other mastiff and bully breeds. Another factor that made them unfit for police work is their brachecephalic or squished face causing them to have difficulty breathing in heat or working for long periods of time. They need a cool environment or an AC house to be comfortable.

The boxer dog has a distinct square strong build and chiseled elegant head. They come in 2 show colors which are the Classic Fawn and Brindle boxers which can have sparse white markings that appear on the face where white may replace part of the otherwise essential black mask and may extend in an upward path between the eyes, but it must not be excessive so as to distract from the true boxer expression.

Boxers however do come in a wide variety of other colors that are not show quality such as seal brindle, reverse brindle, flashy brindle with more white, and mis-marked or party colored.

Boxer dogs are usually super friendly, happy go lucky dogs that love giving kisses, however they are not clean dogs. They do have a sleek short hair coat that does shed excessively. They also have floopy lips that slobber a lot! You may come across a few that slobber less than others but it’s a gamble who will slobber more when getting a puppy! Just expect them all to give lots of Slobbery kisses if you get one!

As for barking, your boxer dog is not an excessive barker and should only bark if there is an intruder around.

Over all, Boxers are very affectionate and smart dogs that love companionship and cuddles on the cough. They are a needy large breed dog that is not independent. They are easy to train and most people who have boxer dogs absolutely love them!

Their lifespan is 8 to 10 years and they do have a list of health issues, which I’ve made another video about on my channel!

Alright guys! I hope you loved this video on Boxer dogs!

  1. My grandparents owned boxers and then my parents. I got my first boxer when I was in college and have had 14(5 at one time)and could never have any other breed. My favorite saying is Boxers are like chips, you can’t have just one!🐾💕💕🐾

  2. Best dogs 🎉my baby is Rocco , he’s a flashy fawn ….. 6 years old and 85 lbs . Love from Florida 😊great vid thx so much ❤I will always have a boxer 🎉

  3. Just because a Boxer is white or black doesn’t make them any less of a boxer. They don’t have to be the model akc dog to be quality amazing dogs.

  4. Boxers are great looking adorable dog breed. I absolutely have no idea what my next dog will be, but considering either a Boxer, Rottweiler, Dogo Argentino or Presa Canario. Hard to decide!

  5. I can't understand why their tails are still being cut. 40 minutes exercise a day is not enough for a boxer. But yes, they are the most amazing dog breed there is 😊

  6. We have a 7 year old female fawn, 70 pounds. Our vet was raised with boxers. Her quote was they are one of the most intelligent breeds, but are also goobers. Ours is more like a cat than a dog….she'll be affectionate, but only on her terms, when she wants to, where she wants to. Our vet explained it as females can be independent. Best dog I've ever had.

  7. Your descriptions of Boxers sounds like an advertisement for the breeders. Who cares what a breeders sees as important?

  8. my brindle, Caesar, was 12, my fawn, Lennox, was 11 years with me. I am addicted to Boxers, best dogs ever❤

  9. They weren't that popular in the US in the 40,s.
I've had Boxers since I was a kid in 65 and most people had no idea what they were.
They were constantly mistaken as an American Bulldog even into the mid 70,s and later.
    Now you see them everywhere.
The Wife and I are on our 4th pair and the ones we lost sit on our mantle.
I wouldnt own any other breed.

  10. It's not benefitial for a veterinarian to be talking about the exteriour requirements of a dog breed as it is the only way to tell a "normal" Boxer from a "unhealthy" member of the breed. Look what happened to German Shepards and CCSpaniels. That is the same BS that made us humans destroy the breed.

  11. Back in the 1970s my parents had a baby monitor named Marla. She was a Boxer who insisted on sleeping by my crib. And if I cried or made loud noises, Marla would go alert mom and dad. She drove them crazy… so Ive been told 100 times.

  12. Heartbreak breed. #1 in cancer. Catch it quick.. look out for your buddy. I miss my lil biddy buddy awesome at almost 12. Surgery for the C word at 4. 🐾🐾🐾💔💔💔💔💔💕💕💕💕💕

  13. My german Boxer girl would go nuts with just 40 Min of exercise a day. I`d say that a Boxer without duties needs around 2h of physical exercise and in addition some mental training as well

  14. So you want a dog that walks around with a look on its face like it owes you money and it's hoping you forgot? You need a Boxer.

  15. I could definitely tell they are mixed with terriers. I’m not “breedist” so I love all dogs lol but have rescued it jack Russells my whole life from SPCA and I can definitely see Jack Russell in the boxers that I see around the neighborhoods etc. if I ever can take care of a bigger dog, I will definitely rescue a boxer. To me they remind me of big jack Russell terriers.

  16. Ignore AKC standards. Selecting for them results in inbred dogs with health problems. Boxers shouldn’t be dying of cancer at age 6-7.
