How to Tire Out a Border Collie. This is a fun game you can play with your dog! Using a nylon horse lunge that you can buy from a horse supply store and attaching a cheap plush toy (this one is from the dollar store) you can play a game with your border collie that will not only tire them out, but also teach them some impulse control skills and focus.
Always let the dog catch the toy and don’t make it too difficult. Let them run with the toy and parade it around the circle. Start with just a minute or two and stop before your dog gets frustrated. Raven is a 7 month old border collie puppy and this was his first time playing this game.

After about an hour of “tug” Aeon is warmed up for his run. Then comes cuddles and a brushing depending on how dirty we are. I guesstamate about 3 hours a day of activity wears him down enough that I can go to bed without the nose poking me every half hour asking if I’m awake….😏
Aww doing so well. The added bonus is the funny looks when people see you have a massive whip in your car!!! Sadly my dogs never liked a flirt pole but it is a good fun game for those that do
