How do you train a Doberman puppy to understand basic commands? This is how! This video is a crash course on how to train a Doberman with the most important commands including sit, stay, lie down, off, come, leave it, and a release command. These techniques utilize my basic formula for training Dobermans which takes advantage of their natural instincts to get fast results. I’m always modifying my training approaches, but these are the most effective techniques I currently have.

  1. PLEASE HELP. I'M FOSTERING A 1.5 Y/O FEMALE DOBERMAN W/DOG REACTIVITY & I'M WORRIED ABOUT HER FUTURE (I don't think she is adoption ready…but she is listed for adoption)

I have fostered dogs for years & am currently fostering a 1.5 y/o F Doberman. I'm worried for her, so I put her through GROUP obedience out of my pocket. She completed the 6 weeks & her socialization is still the main issue (which is why I chose GROUP class). Oddly, she lives with a male Weim-GSP, & female Am-Eng bulldog & 2 cats.

She improved with people reactivity BUT her dog reactivity is AWFUL. She made small progess with big dogs & NO PROGRESS with the little schnauzer in the group class (EVERY class, multiple times she zones on the schnauzer & LUNGES, GROWLS, FROTHS). She's on a Herm sprenger & she hurts herself, gets frustrated & just spirals for a good 20 seconds (feels like eternity) before she goes in a sit (she doesn't relax, she is still clearly amped). We're redoing the 6 week GROUP class. She knows the commands, I need her have coping mechanism & impulse control around other dogs.

Do you have any advice on how I can stop the reactivity? It happens on leash walks too? I try to be proactive, but she knows EVERY house with a dog & the group class has dogs & becomes amped. I put her in sits, body block, "look at me" but she sits waiting me out (I have to go in the classroom &finish my dog walk, so it ends up with her hurting herself by herm sprenger correction pops or just lunging
AS I tell her leave it)

I have done this group class (1 & 2) with another dogs needing socializing & it's a great company with a good syllabus, spacious class etc.

  2. Do you have a video recommending how to slow down a fast eater? I just got my pup – Isis. She's 3 months old and is used to eat with a pack of others; so she scarfs her food too fast.

  3. Is 11 months too far gone for training? Our 11 month old was doing so great and now is off the rails, jumps on my daughters (5&7)
jumps on me , is very reactive, I’m trying so hard to control the habits

  5. THANK YOU!! We are scheduled to get our puppy from a litter in Sept 2023 so I'm starting to gather all the knowledge that I can to be the best owner! I definitely want to start working with our puppy right away. I'm about to check out more of your videos!

  6. I just got my first Doberman! Thank you so much for these videos!! This is definitely a new breed for my family, and we need all the help we can get..

  7. I love your channel 13 years since having a dobie pup Great refresher plus new things to teach this old dog "me" new tricks 💞 I use a quiet room and I sit on floor a lot also I use a long line ect on my pups I had. dobies are easy trained some humans are hard. haha

  8. What can i do if my dog does not want to do the down part i tried putting the treats close to his legs and nothing she jus playfights with my hands

  9. I've a 8 weeks old pup

Distractions are okay but what to do when they start fighting for treat and not listen to what they're told to

    Should we teach multiple commands
Or let them learn one command first for few days then come to next command

  10. As a dog walker, how can I get a Doberman puppy with separation anxiety to walk with me and enjoy it. She gets nervous walking (leaping) away from the owners house and zig zags anxiously and skiddishly around the street. Thanks ! 😊

  11. My family has just brought home a 7 year old female Doberman. A vet had ger surrendered to her to be put down do to the owner reporting her having ADHD. The vet is looking for the right fit for her. We offered to trial her to see if ahe is a good fit in our family with 2 kids 13 & 8 plus a senior 17 year old cat. We don't want to add stress to our cats last years of life. So far so good, beginning of day 3 in our home.

Robin is not leash trained. I have a prong collar that she came with and a collar the vet put on her. She is very sweet and my hope is to get her used to walking with me without pulling. Learning to heal properly and consistently to get yer off the prong collar ASAP. I did have surgery 5 weeks ago so the prong collar gets immediate results as she is strong and could pull me if she decided to chase something.

Any suggestions with adult training would ve helpful. I think she is really enjoying getting out for walks regularly.
