Shocking, some groomers don't know this.
Lol everything about that is a myth.
Hair is an insulator, sure, but what happens when you wear a hoodie (aka an insulator) on a hot day? You get hot. Same with double coated dogs. Their coats were made for cold areas, and some lines dont shed out like they should to get the warm weather advantage as claimed. Show line dogs and mountain dogs like great Pyrenees have essentially the same coat all seasons.
Shaving them doesnt ruin their coat. Its hair. It grows back. Yes you have to brush it still as it grows back or it gets compacted, just like when they have long coats. Shaving them may reveal am underlying issue thay causes poor coat growth like thyroid issues, but the shaving isnt the root cause of the bad coat.
Ugh. So tired of people spreading this shit.
