  1. Thank you. I now have a food plan with my puppies. My puppies are 4 weeks old and nursing very well . The mom, Lucy, eats Royal Canin several times a day, and the puppies are thriving. I just love your videos and have learned so much about my Cavaliers. Thanks again!

  2. I love this series and can’t wait to see more… I also so enjoy hearing your dogs “talk”! Keep the videos coming!!!!

  3. I love this segment…thank you for answering my question. My 1 year old did better this week as I did take it back to basics for him. I think he was so used to getting all the attention, he wasn’t a fan of sharing his human w the new dog on the block!

  4. Can’t wait to see the videos of Churchill, you must have had them transferred to digital. I still remember the older video cameras and watching on a projector. Does that make me old? Lol

  5. I find that Cavalier fur absorbs odors of other things very easily, like perfumes. They don't tend to have a specific smell of their own that I have noticed.

  6. If you are sensitive to smell or shedding the Coton du Tulear is a good choice and has many personality traits as a a Cavalier. I have had both. Both are very good companion animals and bond closely with their humans and are exceptionally easy to train.

  7. Yes, Cavaliers have an odor. It’s different from a Lab, those have a stronger and less pleasant smell even after being bathed. If our Cavalier is outdoors when it’s hot, she will have a “hot doggie” smell that normally fades. After a Bth she’s good for at least a week or more. By 3 weeks I’m noticing more of her scent. Disclaimer: I have a really acute sense of smell. I can find a dead field mouse in a wall, to the stud bay. My husband has a poor olfactory sense.

  8. Apple ❤

My tri is glued to me. Definitely a companion. She comes in the bathroom while I shower. Just waits for me. But oh, if she sees a squirrel, chipmunk, bunny .. she becomes a sporting dog.

  9. My dog has very similar temperament as the cavaliers. He’s a malshi and is a bit smaller but a big personality. One thing that I have wondered is how much do cavaliers shed? What is their fur type? Meaning do they mat easily, have thick or thin fur, or need a special kind of shampoo, etc….
I never realized that it was better to adopt puppies when they are 10+ weeks old, vs. 6-8 weeks old. Growing up, I was always informed that puppies were ready at 6 weeks but I remember thinking that seemed so young. The puppies seemed to be very afraid and unsure of themselves and seemed so lost.

  10. For the person who asked about their one-year-old dog "regressing" on house training. This is unusual. An older dog usually helps in the house training. Before you do anything, please take your one-year-old to the vet to rule out any medical issues (like a urinary tract infection). Once your dog has been cleared of any medical issues, you can begin re-house training. If your dog does, indeed, have a medical issue, no amount of "training" is going to help.

  11. Another excellent video! Thank you for answering our question regarding the unique scent of Cavaliers vs other breeds – especially Cav ears. Much appreciated. (If you had a 'blind' scent test could you tell which dog was a Cav? I bet you could.)
Similar to yourselves we adopted our first Cav in 1982, when there were only two Cavalier breeders in all of Australia. We never saw another Cav here for years. Everyone thought that he was still a puppy, even when fully grown. Of course, they are much more popular now. Really looking forward to seeing your vintage shots of Churchill and Winston, etc, etc. Amazing how you first got Winston and now, 40+ years later you have a total Cav household. Good karma. Well done. (p.s. Apple with the 'hand-shake' – funnneee…)

  12. Oh my 6 month old is a little Firecracker! She is a sock thief! She’s very feisty 😈. Lol she’s already 13.5 pounds!! I guess I would say my girl is about 98% house trained. She doesn’t like rain and soggy grass.
Thank you for doing these videos 🤗❣️

  13. I have learned so much from watching your videos as my retired husband and I are new to the Cavalier world. We have always had Labrador Retrievers but when we moved into a smaller condo and our dear lab passed away, my daughter convinced us we needed a Cavalier King Charles. Our Winston came to us crate trained at 13 weeks and loves his crate. We've kept up the crate as his "home" and he is very happy to be crated during meal times and sleeping in it at night. One difference we have noticed with our Winston is he loves to chew just about all things even through he's 1 3/4 years old. He surpasses any Lab chewing we've had. He has all kinds of toys, chews (kong) and squeaky toys. Any advice how to keep him from chewing something not for him? We supervise closely, even have him on a house line sometimes. Thanks again.

  14. Hello from sweden 🥳🥰love your Youtube 🥰 my first cavalier Sally is now 5 month and is wet between the eys. Is this normal for cavalier?

  15. Hello. I love your videos. They are always interesting, thoughtful, and have helped me so much since becoming a Cavalier owner. My question is why are my Cav's ears hair thinning in the front? Vet hasn't been able to answer it. He is 5 years with no health issues. Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  16. Love these videos! I’ve already learned so much from you. Question regarding training puppies. Mine is 13 weeks today. Is this a good age to start basic commands like Sit Stay Come. And should they be taught in a particular order? If so, in what order? And should they master one before starting training on the next? TIA

  17. Do you think cavaliers are happier with another cavalier in the house? What is a good age to introduce a second dog to the first? Thank you! I love your videos, and my black and tan girl loves watching with me!

  18. Love your content so much! Any recommendation on heart and joint vitamins or preventive supplements? Thoughts on dental chews and water additives for dental hygiene? How to find a clinic for cardio checkup?

  19. My one year old female is not very social with other dogs how do I get her to not me aggressive with other dogs? And is there an advantage to getting a CGC certification?
