A couple of glaring errors in this:
– the breed was never the preserve of the gentry, that was the greyhound. Whippets started out with the working classes as a cross between greyhounds and terriers.
– 45mph is not possible for a whippet. Even the fastest of greyhounds will top out at 42-3mph. Whippets can reach 38mph at best.
