[Music] the celium terrier is a rare Welsh breed of small to medium-sized Terrier that originated in Wales as a working dog history the celium terrier originated in Wales and was developed in the mid 19th century by Captain John Edwards at celium house this breed was specifically created for hunting small game such as otter foxes and Badgers over time especially after World War I the celam terrier gained popularity and became associated with Hollywood celebrities and the British royal family despite their earlier Fame and recognition celam Terriers are now considered a rare breed ranking 149th among the 155 breeds recognized by the American Kennel Club traits celium Terriers are small standing about 10.5 in at the shoulder and typically weigh between 20 to 24 lb they have a distinctive appearance with a dense wiry weather resistant white coat often featuring lemon tan or Badger markings on the head and ears they are known for their fall a mass of hair covering the forehead and their bushy beard and eyebrows which give them an expressive face despite their small stature they are robust and substantial with powerful heads and well- muscled bodies health issues celium Terriers are generally healthy but they can be prone to certain health conditions lens luxation this condition involves the displacement of the ey’s lens due to weakened ligaments treatment varies from medication to surgery with severe cases potentially requiring eye removal retinal dysplasia A congenital malformation of the retina often mild and not significantly affecting Vision it can be diagnosed in puppies between 7 to 12 weeks old prospective owners should ensure that breeders conduct appropriate Health screenings including certification from the K9 ey registry Foundation to verify normal eye health behavior with kids and other pets celm Terriers are affectionate friendly and generally good with children making them suitable family pets they are playful and patient but as with any dog breed interactions between young children and dogs should always be supervised to prevent any incidents of biting or rough handling celium Terriers typically get along well with other pets including cats especially if they are raised together however they can be reserved and wary of unfamiliar dogs grooming needs Cy ham terriers have a medium long double coat coat with a dense soft undercoat and a hard wiry top coat their grooming routine includes brushing regular brushing three times a week is essential especially for the longer hair on the head legs and chest to prevent Tangles hand stripping or clipping to maintain the coat’s correct texture hand stripping is recommended clipping is an alternative but results in a softer coat that might shed more dental hygiene regular teeth brushing ideally two or three times a week to prevent tartter buildup Nail Care trim nails once or twice a month to keep them at an appropriate length price and lifespan celium terriers have a lifespan of around 12 to 15 years acquiring a celium terrier from a reputable breeder typically involves a significant investment due to their Rarity you can expect to pay $1,500 to $3,000 for a puppy from a reput breeder adopting from Rescue organizations or shelters is also a recommended and often more affordable option providing a loving home to a dog in need that’s all for today thank you so much for watching this video If you like this video do subscribe our YouTube channel for more videos
