[Music] the Tibetan Spaniel is a breed of assertive small dogs originating in Tibet this breed is not a spaniel in the original meaning of the term its breeding differs from other spaniels and unlike true spaniels which are Gun Dogs the Tibetan Spaniel is a companion dog the spaniel name may have been given due to its resemblance to The Bred down lap dog versions of the hunting spaniels such as the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel his the Tibetan Spaniel is an ancient breed with origins in Tibet where it was highly valued as a companion and Watchdog in tibetan monasteries depictions of small dogs resembling Tibetan spaniels can be traced back for centuries in tibetan and Chinese art these dogs were bred by Tibetan Buddhist monks known as llamas to serve as alarm dogs alerting the monks to any potential Intruders they were of often given as gifts to foreign dignitaries further spreading their popularity Beyond Tibet the breed made its way to England in the late 19th century and later to the United States today Tibetan spaniels are cherished as affectionate companions retaining their watchful and loyal nature traits Tibetan spaniels are small dogs typically standing about 10 in tall and weighing between 9 to 15 lb they have a distinctive appearance with a lionlike Mane of fur around their necks expressive dark eyes and a plumed tail that curls over their back known for their affectionate and intelligent nature Tibetan spaniels are loyal companions to their families they are alert and make excellent Watchdogs often barking to alert their owners of any perceived threats despite their small size they have a sturdy build and are quite agile making them suitable for various activities health issues while generally healthy Tibetan spaniels may be prone to certain health conditions these include Progressive retinal atrophy p a degenerative eye disorder that can lead to blindness and patellar luxation a condition where the kneecap dislocates from its normal position regular Veterinary checkups proper diet and exercise are essential for maintaining their overall health and well-being Behavior with kids and other pets Tibetan spaniels are known for their affectionate and protective nature towards their families including children however due to their small size they may be easily injured by rough handling so they are best suited to homes with older gentle children with proper socialization they usually get along well with other dogs and cats often enjoying the company of another pet as a companion grooming needs the Tibetan Spaniel has a low maintenance coat that requires weekly brushing to remove Loose Hair and prevent mats or Tangles they shed moderately year round with heavier shedding periods occurring once or twice a year regular grooming also includes dental hygiene and Nail Care to ensure their overall health and comfort price and lifespan the price of Tibetan Spaniel puppies can vary depending on on factors such as the breeder reputation lineage and location on average you can expect to pay between $800 to $2,000 for a Tibetan Spaniel puppy from a reputable breeder Tibetan spaniels have a relatively long lifespan typically living between 12 to 15 years when provided with proper care and nutrition that’s all for today thank you so much for watching this video if you like this video do subscribe our YouTube channel for more [Music] videos
