Hi fellow dog lover!🐶 My dog Billie had so many behavior problems… she was jumping, peeing inappropriately, overly aggressive, pulling on the leash… she was just crazy…🤪 Then I found this one solution that stopped all the problems!🙌 The sad fact was…The training I first tried with my dog was a complete fai…lure.😔 I went through the average cookie-cutter training programs. These programs used outdated and ‘mean’ dominance techniques. It turns out those programs had no qualifications and were developed by complete phonies.😱 So this is what I did to stop my dog’s behavior problems… In a few simple words… I discovered my dog’s hidden intelligence!🧠

Let me explain… In my years as a dog owner…this is the one big lesson I have learned. More intelligent dogs are better behaved.👍 A more intelligent dog takes commands easier…and understands what you need from them. What I found out was… No matter how clever I thought my dog was. I could still unlock my dog’s hidden intelligence quickly and easily!😄 Don’t waste a second longer putting up with your dog’s behavior problem! I’ll explain everything you need to know in the link!😁

Basenji – Must-Know Facts for the Owner

Basenji is among the oldest breeds of dogs in the world. It is one of the first dogs on the continent of Africa. Records indicate that in ancient Egypt it was a popular dog breed. Statues and tablets of stone will depict dogs that look like Basenji. They were an aspect of daily life that helped farmers, hunters, and royalties. Some sources suggest they have been even longer with humans. Forrest Bryant Johnson has a picture of the Basenji shown in his book Basenji, Dog From The Past in ancient cave drawings.

The Basenji didn’t fall when ancient Egypt collapsed. They could be seen all across the Nile and Congo before explorers found them in the 17th century. In fact, the word’ Basenji’ is from a language in the Congo meaning village dog.

It remained popular for its incredible agility, eye-catching, great sense of smell and instinct of hunting among many African tribes. Europe and America were fascinated by the amazing race of dogs just as the pharaohs of ancient Egypt.

The Basenji can grow up to 17 inches and weigh up to 25 pounds. It’s a small dog that’s perfect for people who live in apartments. His coat is one of his most intimidating characteristics. They have a short and sleek cover that is usually white and has a red, black or all-three color combination. They don’t often shed and you will not get to worry about your house concerning the hair. It is very easy to clean because the short coat does not become dirty. Perhaps you don’t even have to bathe it that much. Basenjis are known for being clean. They also lick themselves, like cats, to remove the dirt from their fur.

  1. i have a mixed basenji, im not sure what he’s mixed with and he looks exactly like the basenji breed only his ears are down, he has blue eyes , and he has a long tail with a white tip. He is so hard to train and he’s very aggressive. i adopted him almost a year ago and it hasn’t been any easier. My mom wants to give him away but i love him so much he only listens to me and he follows me everywhere. I have a little brother who is 13 and my basenji, his name is simba, he gets very aggressive with him and bites him randomly. My basenji mix also barks non-stop and i’m pretty sure my mom will make me give him away soon.

  2. Long-time Basenji owner here. First off, thank you for posting this video! It's always good to see this breed getting positive attention with good information.

While Basenjis don't have many health related risks, it should be noted that Fanconi Syndrome is something to watch out for. Reputable breeders will keep track of bloodlines and the chances of Fanconi manifesting in the dogs they breed, but any Basenji owner should regularly test for Fanconi.

  3. Thinking of getting a dog, as hypoallergenic as possible, I've heard the basenji is nightmarish: climbing fences, killing Guinea pigs, needs stay on leash, chews up house, is this true??

  4. I've had Basenjis for over 25 years. They are not good in apartments. People need to realize that they have to be crate trained or you will get complaints from neighbors because they scream and howl when you are gone. They need more than 40 mins per day of exercise so a backyard is essential. It takes about 3 years for them to settle down and become less rambunctious. They do not play fetch. They also do not like to get wet. Trying to get them outside when it's raining is impossible. Basenjis howl when upset, the yodel is a positive way of them communicating. They yodel when they are happy. PRA and Fanconi are the genetic diseases that have to be tested. When they are affected, these diseases don't show up until the age of 7-10 cutting their lifespan in half.

  5. I had my Benji the Basenji for over 15 yesrs. He was the love of my life. You have to “walk” them…….not “stand” outside with them on a leash while you’re on your cellphone. So if you’re a lazy type person who doesn’t like exercise they’re not for you. IMO they’re the cutest dogs in the world. Will definitely get another when I retire.

  6. Former dog breeder here: Basenjis do bark like other dogs though its rare, and a red one will have a black mark on the nape inidcating the tricolor trait.

  7. This is going to sound crazy, but… Basenji's are NOT a dog. They're not a wolf, a dingo, a coyote, jackal or a wild dog either.

All dogs can trace their lineage back to the grey wolf… Basenji's cannot because they are not related to grey wolves whatsoever.

Basenji's have two seperate ancestors: an ancient wolf and an ancient jackal.

The ancient Ethiopian Wolf -endemic to Ethiopia and now extinct (current day Ethiopian wolves are bred with grey wolves).

As for the other ½ of the basenji's ancient bloodline: it's thought to be a long extinct variety of jackal, again, endemic to Africa given the age of the breed of the basenji, which is remarkably ancient -the most ancient, purest "dog" breed in fact…

But I'm not calling them dogs. They're not. They're basenji's. They're different. There's nothing quite like them.

  8. Getting a house next year with my fiance and I really want to get a Basenji! I think there personalities suit me and her very well, and a good family dog. I cant wait!

  9. No health concerns? Make sure you research Fanconi syndrome. Anyone talking about basenjis should know about this, or they don't know basenjis.

  10. Our dog looks exactly like a basenji, Orange coat, white underbelly, large erect ears, black nose, pointy snout, forward facing eyes and a curled tail. The only thing that sets her apart is that she barks like any other dog. Because of this, I have no idea what breed she is

  11. I hate it so much when American people use 'pounds,' why don't you be a little less stubborn and use Kg's like the rest of the world

  12. I lost my precious Max (puppus maximus) a little over two years ago. He was my Rescue boy, and he adopted me just shy of his 3rd birthday. He was one the more rare Brindles, and the joy of my life for 13-1/2 years. Sure, they need to be crate trained, but that's something that's a good idea anyway, in general. He was my 4th Basenji, so you could say I've been a proud Basenji slave for most of my adult life. When he was roughly 7, he had calmed down quite a bit, so I started leaving him out of his crate, and only a couple of times did he get into any mischief, and I've been an apartment dweller most of my life, having been a govt employee, and just never could manage afford a house, but did own a condo for my last 7 ears before retirement, in Alexandria, Va. But I have always been active, and love dog parks in general, and hiking, so exercise for him was great. So he passed in my arms at 16-1/2 years old, and his urn sits atop my entertainment center, and I can hardly wait for the day when I reunite with him at the RAINBOW BRIDGE.

  13. BASENJI is a pure breed from my country CONGO KINSHASA.
It’s originated only in Congo 🇨🇩❤️
Congolese offered them to the Pharaoh’s as gifts.

  14. doesnt like a dirty house eh. missus would love having this mutt next to her while shes telling me to clean up. both of them giving me the eye…

  15. The bansenji's history looks very similar to the Pharaon Dog breed… Whereas the Basenji is a dog from Congo
