One of the most pleasant surprises about hiking San G after the rain…seeing frosted trees in late May! The white stuff on the trees wasn’t snow but icy dew that slowly melted and fell on us like silver glitter along early parts of the trail. It was magical. (But don’t look up for too long or a chunk of ice could take out an eye, which almost happened to us!) We were determined to make good time but some sights are just so beautiful that you have to stop and admire it for a bit. And we’re glad we did because the sun had melted this summertime winter wonderland away by afternoon on our way down.
