Grooming
Basenjis are a short-haired breed with a flat coat that sheds all year, even in the winter. Grooming is recommended every 4–8 weeks to clean ears, clip nails, check anal glands, and ensure the coat and skin are in good shape.

Taking Care of the Basenji Coat
Basenjis are one of the breeds that sheds very little, but the majority of them shed in the spring and autumn. Frequent brushing with a hound glove, grooming mitt, or glove will suffice to keep your house free of dog hair and your hound looking handsome. You may want to groom your dog outside during the shedding season.
