  1. This dog looks exactly like the IWH I had. He was loyal, loving, smart and protective! This big dog is excellent with small children.

  2. I have a young Irish Wolfhound (1 year and 8 months) who breaks leash to run to other dogs and or other distractions. Help?

  3. I have a 4 month old Border Collie / Husky mix and he Won't stop biting and nipping! What can I do? I tried what the Vet told me but it makes him more agressive. Please help before I lose all my blood!

  4. If I were considering getting a dog I would go to a shelter, but I bet you wouldn't get many wolfhound would you.Are they loving.

  5. This place is a few km away from my house. I’m happy for the YouTube videos because it’s pretty pricey to do classes here.

  6. Hey I rescued a puppy mix and didn’t know what I was getting myself into, she was barely 3 months when j got her and a little under 20 pounds she’s now almost 4 months and over 40 pounds already, she’s been a little to aggressive with playing and keeps hurting my 6 year old 12 pound shitzu I don’t know what to do, she won’t listen to me when she’s that hyper. I need a trainer where are you guys located? Do you do virtual training?

  7. So I am a 100lb petite women with a 100lb lab, and a 60 lb lab. Walking them is IMPOSSIBLE! Theyve taken me to the ground several times. I do I train with that?! Help!

  8. 10-12 cups a day is ridiculous. You should never feed your wolfhound that much. 2-4 cups per meal twice a day is plenty.

  9. good video, can't speak for other giant breeds, but on my 6th and 7th wolfhound. He's right in that they are pretty easy to train – short sessions work best. Also, making sure you can handle them starting when they are young is so important. You can never be harsh with a wolfhound, they just don't understand. If they're raised properly, they are a very sweet and gentle dog. They just love my grandkids and are very gentle with them. They get along well with other dogs – coyotes not so much.

  10. I've had Irish Wolfhounds for years. I would never , ever recommend getting a puppy from a breeder who has only been breeding for 4 years. That is a breeder with minimum experience. I would never get a hound from any breeder with experience less than 10 years and that breeder, most especially with Irish Wolfhounds – as they are unlike other breeds in numerous ways – keep detailed notes of every breeding, all puppies and health records. The breeder should not breed more than 2 times a years. One breeding more often is obviously breeding for money and not for the betterment of the breed. Irish Wolfhounds were once only owned by nobility for a reason. Not all are worthy of them.

  11. You definitely need a big yard with a dog like this. They need lots of exercise. Eat lots of food and make lots of poop. Also, I imagine that Irish Wolfhound puppies are very expensive. They are short-lived—seven years is average according to wiki, and most die of bone cancer. Not for everyone. For the person who really wants something different and has the means to afford it.

  12. You are right, some things you are told about training, don't work for large breed dogs. We are at the point where stepping on the leash won't fully keep our pup from jumping up on people. He's 90 lbs+ at 9 months and it's really hard finding good training content out there for giant breeds! Currently our biggest struggle happens during walks, our pup will randomly bite the leash, then jump up and mouth my arm. How do I get this situation under control? When he's up on both feet, he's taller than me…. and it's getting harder and harder to quickly "shut it down" so he doesn't practice bad behaviors.

  13. What if my pup was fine with nail trims, etc, and now at 7 months, is trying to resist, snap even? I’ve never “quicked” him…

  14. I have searched just under five years for a Wolfhound, almost half a decade! Most of the breeders I have been able to find aren't actually planning litters? Any suggestions?

  15. GREAT job guys!! We've had our Wolfhounds since 1965 and it is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences possible. They are unique and the epitome of total love and devotion but it comes with a real level of responsibility that has to be understood. Your Sky is a gorgeous girl with a sweet personality and lovely expression. THANKS again for your posting. It was excellent and really spot-on.

  16. I have do have a question for Irish Wolfhounds specifically- being a deep chested and a large dog, they are prone to bloat from what I've researched. Would you advise stomach stapling or not? And if so, at what age would you do that kind of surgery?

  17. Never had any issues growing up with irish wolfhounds best breed on planet earth, i live on an animal sanctuary with a litter of hounds a year, beautiful babies but the liver issues are tragic with some pups

  18. This is good. Most videos of dog training, always uses a small breed puppy. Or a super sweet golden or lab. I love to see videos about large breeds and working dogs
