Cat with Robot Legs: Oscar, the World’s First Bionic Cat #cats
In 2007, Oscar, a black kitten from Jersey, Channel Islands, was adopted by Mike Nolan and Kate Allan. He had several accidents, including being hit by cars twice, requiring surgeries. In 2009, Oscar was severely injured when a combine harvester severed both his back feet.
He was referred to Professor Noel Fitzpatrick, a specialist in animal prosthetics, who performed a groundbreaking surgery to attach bionic feet to Oscar’s legs. After a long recovery, Oscar regained his ability to walk and became known as the world’s first “Bionic Cat.” Despite a setback in 2012, when one of his implants broke, Oscar continued to live a healthy life.
